Drug-device company expanding in Atlanta area

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - Drug-device maker Gerresheimer Peachtree City is launching a multi-million-dollar expansion in metro Atlanta expected to create 120 jobs.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today the company plans to build a new 60,000-square-foot manufacturing plant on its 35-acre campus in Fayette County. The plant will produce devices such as inhalers and insulin pens.

Construction is scheduled to start later this year, with the new manufacturing facility cranking up operations in 2015.

Gerresheimer first set up shop in Peachtree City in 1993 and expanded its Georgia operation in 2009. The company says the 120 new jobs created in the latest expansion will include executive, administrative, supervisory and production positions.
