Five Chattanooga busineses charged with failing to comply with alcohol law

Five area businesses failed when the Chattanooga Police Department Regulatory Bureau, along with the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Hamilton County Coalition, conducted compliance checks at 12 area businesses March 13.

Police sent an 18-year-old into the businesses to attempt to purchase beer and liquor. Seven of the businesses asked the individual for identification and refused the sale.

The five who failed will appear at a later date before the Chattanooga Beer Board or face an administrative hearing with the TN ABC.

The stores that passed the check were: the Favorite Market at 201 Browns Ferry Rd., the Kangaroo Express at 3740 Tennessee Ave., Logan's Roadhouse at 3592 Cummings Highway, Shiva Food Mart at 303 Browns Ferry Road, Star Discount at 125 Browns Ferry Road., Three Amigo's at 3536 Cummings Highway and the Walgreens at 3550 Broad St.

The stores that failed were: the Kangaroo Express at 234 Browns Ferry Road, the Mapco at 200 Browns Ferry Road, Las Margarita's at 3100 Cummings Highway for both liquor and beer, the Quik Stop at 1300 N. Holtzclaw Ave., and Valley Wine and Spirit at 3548 Cummings Highway.
