GA deputies shoot, kill man during 911 response

CUMMING, Ga. - Authorities say sheriff's deputies in north Georgia shot and killed a man who threatened them with a gun as they responded to a 911 call.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports three Forsyth County deputies involved were not injured during the shooting early today and have been placed on administrative leave pending a review.

Sheriff's spokesman Doug Rainwater says the deputies were dispatched to a home on a 911 call just after midnight today. He says a 52-year-old man at the house "threatened deputies with a firearm" and was shot. Details of what prompted the 911 call were not immediately released.

The name of the man who killed was not immediately released.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the case, which is typical in shootings involving law-enforcement officers.
