UTC Lady Mocs lose to Syracuse, 59-53

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga saw their season come to a close in the first round of the NCAA tournament with a 59-53 loss to Syracuse at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington.

The Mocs shot 34 percent from the field and held Syracuse to 31 percent shooting, but the Orange finished 24-for-31 from the free-throw line, as compared to 4-for-14 for the Mocs.

Taylor Hall had a game-high 19 points, adding 10 rebounds and six assists to lead the Mocs (29-4). Alex Black had nine while Faith Dupree added eight.

Shakeya Leary had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Orange (23-9), who go on to face Kentucky Monday evening at 6:30. Briana Butler and Brittney Sykes added 13 apiece, although the latter was lost to a knee injury with 12:46 remaining in the game.
