Jackson man charged in estranged wife's death

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A Jackson man has been charged with first-degree murder in the overdose death nearly five months ago of his estranged wife.

Jackson police charged 30-year-old John Christie on Wednesday in the death of 26-year-old Brittany Christie of Henderson.

Police say she was found dead inside a motel room on Dec. 6. Autopsy results indicated she died of a combination of the drug clonazepam and heroin.

A news release from police says the couple were seeing each other again and were in the motel room together. Police accused John Christie of giving his wife enough clonazepam to render her helpless then injecting her with heroin.

John Christie's probation in another case was revoked on an outstanding warrant, and he was serving a year in jail when he was served with the murder warrant Wednesday.
