For 24 years, residents have stepped into the Warner Park Fitness Center to run, cycle, row, lift and climb. They have made their hearts and muscles a little stronger, and formed friendships in the process.
On Friday, city officials, center staff and enthusiasts gathered at the facility off East Third Street to celebrate the center's 24th anniversary and its 2 millionth visitor.
The center provides a variety of health and fitness opportunities, including classes, to everyone, from beginners and the young to senior citizens and those with special needs. Among the equipment to challenge exercisers are treadmills, stationary bicycles, stair climbers, rowing ergometers, and multistation weight machines. Classes offered range from step, low impact, group strength, core, kickboxing and tae kwon do.
