Voting was off to a slow start this morning at East Ridge precinct 4. About 40 people had cast ballots at East Ridge United Methodist Church by 10:30.

Justin Kirk, a registered Republican, said he voted this morning because "I vote every time."

He was especially interested in the race for the District 8 Hamilton County Commission seat, a contest among incumbent Tim Boyd, Curtis Adams, who previously held the seat, and Brent Lambert, the mayor of East Ridge.

Kirk, who was wearing an inside-out Curtis Adams T shirt, said he voted for Adams because he has a lot of experience and he knows him personally.

Hamilton County Election officials noted that turnout for the three-week early voting period was light.

Polls will be open until 8 p.m.
