Tennessee man charged with child abuse in tongue piercing incident

OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. - An East Tennessee man is facing charges after police say he allowed a teenage girl to get her tongue pierced.

Oliver Springs Police Chief Kenneth Morgan told the Knoxville News Sentinel that 36-year-old Jeremy Vandinter of Clinton was arrested Wednesday on charges of aggravated child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the police report, Vandinter posed as the girl's father when she got the piecing last September at a tattoo parlor.

Morgan said the girl kept the tongue-piercing a secret until her father discovered it on April 24 and "went ballistic."

It wasn't immediately clear whether Vandinter has an attorney.
