Alleged reckless driver kills one, injures two others in Blount County crash

A Blount County man released on bond following a DUI arrest Sunday was allegedly at fault in a three-vehicle crash that killed a 72-year-old woman and injured two other people Monday morning, authorities said.

Jason David Dyer, 27, of Walland is accused of passing vehicles while speeding along the continuous turn lane on U.S. Highway 411 North near Springview Road shortly after 11 a.m., according to the Blount County Sheriff's Office.

Dyer, who was driving a 2002 Nissan Altima, lost control and drifted into oncoming traffic. His car struck a southbound 1998 Pontiac Firebird, sheering off the left front wheel of the Altima and spinning the car into the path of an oncoming 2012 Toyota Camry.
