Hamilton County's jobless rate for April drops to 5.6 percent

The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development has reported Hamilton County's unemployment rate dropped from 6.7 percent in March to 5.6 percent in April.

A department news release said Davidson and Knox counties had the state's lowest major metropolitan rates in April, both at 4.7 percent. Davidson was down from 5.5 percent in March and Knox was down from 5.6 percent. Shelby County was 7.1 percent in April, a decline from 8.4 percent in March.

The April unemployment rate in Tennessee and the U.S. was at 6.3 percent, both down from 6.7 percent the preceding month.
