Red Bank man arrested in theft

Red Bank police arrested Charles Rice, 55, on May 20, at a residence on Black Oak Circle in Hixson, described by police as his residence, on a warrant for theft over $20,000.

Red Bank police had previously gone to an apartment on Valley View Drive on Feb. 26, and spoke with Carol Cook, who told police that a day earlier her roommate, Rice, had taken $24,000 in cash from her home and had not been seen since, according to a police report. Cook told police that she wished to press charges.

Rice was arrested and taken to the Red Bank Police Department before being booked at the Hamilton County Jail. His bond was listed at $1,000.


Motorcycle crash kills man

A man has died after he lost control of his motorcycle, came off the vehicle and hit an SUV on Gunbarrel Road on Tuesday.

The crash happened around 8:24 p.m. at 2600 Gunbarrel Road.

The 24-year-old motorcyclist, Mitchell Beard, was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries Thursday.
