Deputies: New Mexico children lived in filthy home with dead uncle's body

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A New Mexico man is facing charges after authorities say his children were found living in a filthy home where their uncle's body had been left in a bedroom for several days.

KOAT-TV reports Terry Cunningham recently was charged with three counts of child abuse and neglect following a visit by deputies to his home in Albuquerque's South Valley.

The station reports Cunningham's brother had been dead for several days. It's unclear how he died.

According to Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies, the children were living in a house with feces on the floor and beds. Deputies say the children's room didn't have a roof and was covered only by black, plastic sheathing.

It was not known if the 44-year-old Cunningham had an attorney.
