Two arrested after 50 cattle stolen in northern Alabama

Two men were arrested early this morning and charged in connection with recent cattle and property thefts in southern DeKalb County, Ala.

David Grant Fulmer, 28 of Collinsville, and Eddie Ray Fulmer, 31, of Albertville, were taken into custody this morning by DeKalb County deputies and agents from the Department of Agriculture's Rural Crime Unit, according to a news release from Sheriff Jimmy Harris.

David Fulmer is charged with 2 counts of theft of property 1stfor the cattle thefts, the release states. Eddie Fulmer is charged with theft of property 1st 2 counts, receiving stolen property 3rd, and promoting prison contraband.

Authorities said some stolen property has been recovered, and the investigation is continuing.

Both suspects were booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center.

"We are glad to get these guys," Harris said in the release. "The farmers were getting very protective and were concerned about something happening. It is hard to imagine how these people feel to have what they work so hard for taken from them."
