Morning wreck with injuries in Cleveland involved stolen car

An early morning wreck today in which several juveniles were injured involved a stolen car, according to Cleveland, Tenn., police.

Officers responded to a report of a wreck with injuries at 565 Westside Drive at about 6:34 a.m. today, police department spokeswoman Evie West said in a statement.

Witnesses told police that a white Toyota Camry was headed south when its driver lost control. The Camry then crossed over into the northbound lane of traffic and was struck by a blue GMC Acadia, West said.

Occupants of both vehicles were transported to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga.

An investigation revealed the Camry was stolen from a home off 19th Street SE that sometime between Thursday at 11 p.m. and today at 6 a.m.

The driver of the Acadia was released after treatment. The occupants of the Camry, all juveniles, are hospitalized in critical condition, West said.
