Southern Airways Express officials said today that the airline will start new nonstop service between Chattanooga Airport and Memphis.

Flights will be Mondays through Thursdays starting Oct. 1.

"We are very pleased to be offering the only available scheduled air travel directly connecting Chattanooga with Metropolitan Memphis," said Stan Little, Southern Airways Chairman and chief executive, in a statement.

Flights will use Wilson Air Center's executive terminal in Chattanooga, he said.

Little said that Memphis and Chattanooga are "two of Tennessee's most important business centers, but for the past two years, they have been inaccessible, except by automobile or a connection through a distant hub. Once again, direct and affordable service will be available."

Tickets are currently available for purchase on its website,, and via the toll-free call center, 1-800-329-0485.

Southern Airways fares between Chattanooga and Memphis begin at $198, the airline said.
