The Tennessee Highway Patrol has named Jeff Mosley, a road lieutenant since 2009 in Coffee County, as the new captain of the agency's Chattanooga District.

Mosley replaces Capt. Jessie Brooks, who last month was appointed to lead the THP's Knoxville District.

"We've had our eyes on Jeff for a while now," Colonel Tracy Trott said in a news release. "He has proven himself as an up-and-coming leader in our organization, and we've now given him the opportunity to produce positive results in the Chattanooga District."

Mosley had assisted with the organization and allocation of manpower for the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and served one-year terms as the THP's special programs lieutenant (2008-09) and homeland security/wrecker lieutenant (2007-08) in the 12-county Chattanooga District. He was responsible for teaching safety education programs and conducting defensive driving school and handgun school inspections, as well as inspecting all wreckers throughout the area, the release states.

Mosley is certified in advanced traffic crash investigation, criminal drug patrol and as a DUI instructor. He also graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in 2005.

He began his career with the state of Tennessee as a correctional officer with the Department of Corrections in 1983.
