An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the arrest of a Marion County man on charges of money laundering and promoting prostitution.

According to a TBI release, Jin Chung, 71, of South Pittsburg, was involved in building several massage parlors and spas across the state that were suspected to include prostitution in the services they offered between March 2010 and January 2015.

Two of the massage parlors are in Rutherford County, where Chung was indicted on 13 counts of money laundering, one count of conspiracy for money laundering, two counts of promoting prostitution, and one count of conspiracy to promote prostitution last week.

Chung was booked into the Rutherford County Jail, and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

The investigation was initiated in June 2013 at the request of then-16th District Attorney Bill Whitesell, in conjunction with TBI Special Agents, agents with Homeland Security and Immigration Customs Enforcement, and officers from the Murfreesboro and Smyrna Police Departments.
