A Knoxville woman has been charged with driving under the influence after crashing in an elementary school parking lot Tuesday morning, according to court documents.

Jennifer Marie Collins, 32, had her 10-year-old and 7-year-old children in the car with her when she crashed at Amherst Elementary School, 5101 Schaad Road, about 7:20 a.m., according to documents. Neither child was injured, and they were released to school staff following Collins' arrest.

When officers arrived, they found Collins unsteady on her feet with slurred speech. Collins told officers she takes "several mood medicines" and failed a field sobriety test, according to records. She was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center for a blood test and then booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
