A man using a crowbar to break into a storage unit in Ider, Ala., was caught by a local police officer, DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release.

He said the officer was patrolling on Monday when he saw a vehicle parked behind a storage building and found a man pulling items out of the storage unit with a pair of bolt cutters nearby.

Harris said Jason Gabriel Shavers, 33, of Flat Rock was charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. He was awaiting bond in the DeKalb County Detention Center and investigators are working with him to try to solve other storage-building burglaries in the area, Harris said.
