Work to fix a damaged drainage pipe on Signal Mountain Boulevard near the foot of the mountain is going to mean temporary lane closures for perhaps a couple of weeks, the state transportation department says.

On Wednesday, commuter complaints prompted TDOT to close a lane at mile 14.4 at the site of the damaged drain line for safety reasons, spokeswoman Jennifer Flynn said.

"Since this is in a two-lane section of roadway going up the mountain, this will leave one lane open in both directions. TDOT will mobilize equipment today and start repairs tomorrow barring any unforeseen events," Flynn said.

The repair work will be done between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and TDOT crews will provide traffic control.
