Dalton police have arrested an employee of a Dalton, Georgia-based alcohol and drug rehab center for allegedly raping a patient.

The Dalton Police Department arrested 27-year-old Patrick Collins Nix, a Cohutta resident, on a charge of sexual assault by an employee of a health care facility.

Nix allegedly raped the patient on August 8 at the Highland Rivers alcohol and drug treatment center at 900 Shugart Road.

The name of the possible victim of sexual assault is not being disclosed.

The patient alleged that Nix entered her room before dawn on Saturday and "initiated sexual intercourse with her," according to a statement by the Dalton Police Department. She reported the incident to other staff at the facility nine hours later at 10 a.m., and those staff members called police.

Investigators said they found that sexual contact had indeed occurred between Nix and the victim. But even if the sex was consensual, Georgia law prohibits sex between employees of healthcare facilities and those over whom they have supervisory authority, according to the Dalton Police. Nix was arrested Saturday evening.

Police are still investigating the incident and additional charges are possible.
