Updated: Police officer knocked unconscious during wreck on Jenkins Road

The extent of the injuries of a police officer and another driver who were involved in a car accident on Jenkins Road this afternoon are unknown at this time, said Chattanooga Police spokesman Kyle Miller.

The officer was involved in a wreck with another civilian car. Both the officer and driver of the other car were transported to a local hospital for observation. There were no other people in either car.

The officer was knocked unconscious during the wreck, but a citizen was on scene and picked up the officer's radio to call for help, Miller said.

On the Hamilton County's 911 website, it showed an EMS crew was called to Jenkins Road at 4:15 p.m.
