Jetton, a U.S. Army veteran and the pastor of Shelter Church, worked for 27 years in the assessor's office and was the senior real property appraiser under Assessor Bill Bennett, who announced he will not seek reelection.
Jetton has competition in the Republican primary for the assessor's post from Hamilton County Commissioner Marty Haynes, who has represented District 3 since winning a special election in 2012.
Haynes is a sales representative for Porter Warner Industry and is also a licensed real estate agent with the Huddleston Group.
