3 charged in slaying of Tuscaloosa man found dead in car

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Police have charged three suspects with the slaying of a man found shot to death in a car outside a Tuscaloosa apartment complex.

Tuscaloosa News reports 17-year-old Marquell Underwood, 22-year-old Trevoris Sheppard and 16-year-old Samuel Sanders were charged with capital murder Tuesday in the slaying of Gregorie Somerville.

Police say 25-year-old Somerville's body was found Monday in the parking lot of the Aspen Village apartments.

Capt. Gary Hood, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said investigators believe the suspects lured Somerville to the apartments by telling him they wanted to buy marijuana. Instead, Hood said, they shot Somerville and took the drugs along with his clothes and cellphone.

It was not immediately known if any of the suspects had attorneys. All three were charged as adults.
