Chattanooga police have arrested a suspect in last night's homicide.

The shooting at 800 North Willow Street killed 20-year-old Frederick Jordan Clark at the scene, police said in a news release. Clark was found in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Christopher Walton, 20, is charged with first degree murder, reckless endangerment, and aggravated assault. He has been taken to the Hamilton County Jail, police said.

Tavoris McKeldin said he and Clark were walking on Willow Street around 8 p.m. when a white vehicle approached from Citico Avenue and opened fire on them. McKeldin stated that he was able to run away towards Robbins St. where he climbed over a chain link fence.

Police say another victim, 37-year-old Vernandus Adair, was sitting inside his residence when a bullet came into his house striking his leg. Adair's injury was minor and he was treated on scene by EMS, the release said.

Last night a large group stood outside the crime scene, trying to figure out what happened. Some looked with blank stares from their porches. Some cried.

As police were still arriving on the scene, a woman came running up Citico Avenue, repeatedly saying "No, no, no," with each "no" louder as she got closer to the scene.

She ducked under the yellow police tape, now screaming.

"Let me hold him! Let me hold him!"

A police officer ran to her and started walking her backward, "Nobody can be in here, ma'am."

"Are you serious?" she repeated, over and over, at first to the officer and then to nobody in particular. She was yelling in hysteria now. "Are you f------ serious?"

This is Chattanooga's first homicide since July 29.
