The body of the gunman who opened fire on two military sites in Chattanooga on July 16 has been returned to his family, according to an Armed Forces Medical Examiner spokesman.
Spokesman Paul Stone could not say when Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez's body was turned over to his family, but confirmed that it has been.
Abdulazeez killed four U.S. Marines and a Navy specialist in the brazen attack.
Officials have confirmed that Abdulazeez was shot dead by Chattanooga police, but have not said how many times the 24-year-old was shot or where he was hit.
