Police chase ends with train hitting car in Jackson County, Ala.

Nobody was injured when a pursuit ended with a train hitting a car around midnight early Saturday morning in Paint Rock, Ala., according to authorities in Jackson County.

Jackson County Sheriff's deputies were involved in a chase that ended at Highway 72 and Alabama Highway 65. The vehicle in pursuit then lost control and became stuck on railroad tracks, the release said.

The occupant or occupants of the vehicle got out of the car and ran into the woods, and then a train struck the car, the release said.

One female has been located in the woods and arrested for public intoxication. The release said more charges are possibly pending.

Alabama Highway 65 was completely blocked off while Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Troopers investigated the accident and railroad personnel inspecting the train and the tracks. The track was cleared at 2:05 a.m. this morning, the release said.
