A 24-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on aggravated child abuse and child neglect charges for allegedly physically abusing a 13-month-old boy she babysat late last month in East Nashville.

The arrest came on the heels of a Davidson County grand jury indicting Briana Campbell on nine counts of aggravated child abuse and two counts of aggravated child neglect in connection to her physically assaulting the infant during a three-hour period on July 31, Metro police spokeswoman Kris Mumford said.

Police say Campbell was recorded on a home security camera throwing the child on a couch, smothering him with pillows, carrying him upside down by the ankles and repeatedly striking him in the head and body.
