MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Officials say a day care in the Memphis suburb of Cordova had its license suspended after a 2-year-old boy was left locked inside the building.

Tennessee Department of Human Services spokesman Stephanie Jarnagin said Discovery Zone Learning Center has been suspended after a mother arrived at the day care to find her son locked inside and left alone.

An affidavit says the woman assumed a relative had picked up her son when she drove by the day care and its lights were off Monday. When she realized he wasn't home, she returned to the day care.

The woman banged on the door and rang the doorbell. Her son came to the door crying, but couldn't unlock it. The fire department had to force entry.
