A 75-year-old man is in critical condition after his car crashed into a power pole on Suck Creek Road today.

It happened around 1 p.m. in the 2000 block. The sheriff's office says the driver, James H. Johnston, was headed west towards Marion County when his vehicle crossed the double yellow line. He was taken to the hospital.

Suck Creek Road has since reopened after wires were knocked into the road. EPB officials have stated that they will return to the scene later tonight in order to replace the pole. Traffic will be reduced to one lane until the pole is replaced.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
