Chattanooga man shot after refusing to give into three masked burglars' demands released from hospital

A man who refused to give into three burglars' demands and then was subsequently shot has been released from the hospital after a break-in this morning at the 1600 block of Greendale Way.

Police received a call at approximately 8:20 a.m. on reports of a burglary, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

When they arrived, the apartment manager told them one of his tenants had called him, saying there was a break-in at his apartment.

The tenant, Ricky Harper, 32, was home when three masked men broke in and demanded money, the release said. Harper refused, and he was shot twice in the leg.

The suspects stole items and cash from the residence, the release said. Harper then drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call 423-698-2525.
