A man has been charged in Cookeville, Tenn., in connection with his girlfriend's murder.

Early this morning, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department found Tara Burnett, 33, dead in her home on Kingsdown Road, according to a news release from Josh Devine, spokesman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

As TBI investigators looked into the alleged homicide, they were given information leading them to believe that Burnett's boyfriend, Matthew B. Howard, 39, was involved in her death.

Howard, who shared the house with Burnett, was arrested this afternoon and charged with first degree murder. He is currently being held in the Cumberland County Jail on a bond of $1,000,000, according to Devine.
