Chattanooga Police Department officers are investigating the discovery of a body off of East 11th Street.

An officer at the scene said the man's body was found around 8 a.m. by a homeless person who was passing by after daybreak today.

The body thought to be that of a man was less than 1,000 feet from the Community Kitchen where others had taken shelter from the cold overnight. The body was situated between some railroad trestles that bear artwork by Kingdom-Graphica muralists.

The temperature stood at around 21 degrees in Chattanooga at 8 a.m., according to National Weather Service data. Authorities said they believe the death is exposure related.

Officials said no foul play was suspected and that authorities were trying to locate the man's next of kin.
