Charges against Michael Shavers, the man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend outside a Lookout Valley Waffle House on Feb. 11, were bound over to a grand jury Friday morning.

Police say Shavers shot at Ashley Harris, 22, and Joshua Maples, 25, as they were leaving the Waffle House on Cummings Highway in the early hours of that Wednesday.

Shavers ran from the scene, but a fugitive task force found him hiding out in a Dade County, Ga., cave later that day.

Shavers is the older brother of murder suspect Jacob Allison, 16, prosecutors confirmed. Allison is one of three people charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the April 2014 shootings of John "Jake" Lang, Caleb Boozer and Jon E. Morris. Allison is free on bond in that case.

Shavers and the people he is accused of shooting at appeared before Hamilton County General Sessions Judge Lila Statom on Thursday and described the shooting, but Statom said she'd been asked to wait until a detective could be present to finish the hearing.

After police testimony, Statom on Friday bound both counts of attempted first-degree murder over to a grand jury. Shavers' bond is $500,000 in each case.
