A company hoping to offer downtown Chattanooga tours in historic vehicles is asking for a an exemption in city code, so their cars can take to the road.

Angelique Needham, who helped start Chattanooga Depot Tours, asked City Council members to amend the recently passed passenger-for-hire ordinance.

The 1919 and 1925 Ford Model Ts the company plans to use do not meet emission standards in the ordinance.

Councilwoman Carol Berz thanked Needham for bringing the issue to the Council's attention.

Councilman Moses Freeman moved to have the city attorney draft an ordinance allowing for antique cars.
