Heavy snowfall in the Volunteer Energy Cooperative service area Wednesday night and Thursday morning resulted in thousands of outages in a handful of areas, including Bradley, Polk, Bledsoe, Cumberland, Fentress, Putnam, White, Overton and Pickett, with scattered outages in Hammilton, Meigs, Rhea and Scott counties.

Crews are working around the clock to restore power to about 13,000 customers, with the largest concentration - 8,000 - in Cumberland county.
