A 12-year-old girl stabbed a 13-year-old boy twice in a classroom at Lookout Valley Middle High School this morning, officials confirmed.
The boy has been transported to a hospital. One wound was superficial but the other was serious enough to require hospital treatment.
The girl will be charged with attempted criminal homicide and carrying a weapon on school property, officials say.
About 400 students attend the school. Initial reports indicate the incident happened around 10 a.m. today.
A lockdown at the school has been lifted. Parents can come pick up their children.
