Interstate 24 westbound is currently shut down in Chattanooga after an 18-wheeler crash at the Highway 27 split, police say.

Police say the crash caused a fuel spill in the roadway. Emergency crews are working to clear the interstate at this time.

Traffic is being diverted down the Market St./Williams St. exit ramp. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Minor injuries have been reported, police said in a news release.

The crash was reported at 5:49 a.m.
