Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a vehicle tonight around 8:11 p.m. for a registration violation and it quickly turned into a car chase.
The vehicle was occupied by a male and female who refused to stop when deputies attempted to pull them over on I-75 South near Shallowford Road, according to Matt Lea, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.
The vehicle was headed toward the Georgia border, so deputies contacted the Georgia State Patrol for assistance in deploying road spikes ahead of the vehicle in order to stop it. But the spikes were not placed in time and the car took exit 345 and proceeded to Highway 41 North in Georgia.
Catoosa County Sheriff's Officer personnel assisted in the pursuit once it crossed into Georgia, but the pursuit was called off due to increased traffic conditions, Lea stated in the release.
The vehicle is a green Toyota SUV with Tennessee registration and tag number 943YJJ.
