The nine tornadoes that have occurred in July in Tennessee is a state record for the month, according to the National Weather Service office.

The number of tornadoes more than doubled the next highest amount for the month since record keeping began in 1916. There were four tornadoes in 2014 and 1980.

Four of the tornadoes occurred in Wilson County and one more in Davidson County on July 2.
