Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials have identified a New Haven, Ill., woman as the victim in a paddleboarding accident that happened Tuesday on the Tennessee River near the Market Street bridge.

The victim, Brenda Drone, was paddleboarding near a barge tied up at the construction site at the 21st Century Waterfront, a witness said, when she apparently fell from the board into the water.

TWRA officials said the state agency was notified around 2 p.m. Tuesday, while Chattanooga emergency personnel were the first responders.

Drone was taken to Erlanger hospital and was initially listed in critical condition. She died early Wednesday, officials said.

TWRA officers say Drone was not wearing a personal flotation device.
