About 70 abortion opponents gathered outside the Metro Nashville courthouse Tuesday to protest federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
The rally, one of about 45 planned across the U.S., was organized under the banner of "Women Betrayed," an initiative launched by national groups Students for Life of America and Pro-Life Future The effort is dedicated to urging state and federal authorities to investigate and de-fund Planned Parenthood.
The actions are in response to a series of undercover videos released by anti-abortion activists with the Center for Medical Progress who posed as buyers of biological materials for medical research. The clips show Planned Parenthood executives discussing payment for aborted fetal tissue.
