A small fire broke out in the caddy building of the Honor's Course in Ooltewah on Monday night.

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene at 9603 Lee Highway around 8 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the caddy building behind the main clubhouse, according to Amy Maxwell, spokeswoman for Hamilton County Emergency Services.

When firefighters entered, they saw Honor's Course employees using a fire extinguisher on a fire inside of a dryer. Firefighters put out the fire within minutes. Fire officials said the fire started after Honor's Course employees used a gas-operated washer and dryer to clean towels soiled with cooking grease. The heat from the dryer started a reaction with the grease.

No injuries were reported. The caddy building, which houses golf carts and the laundry room, sustained minimal damages estimated at $3,500.
