Drinking water - it's important. So important that Chattanooga wants to spend thousands of dollars on a new art exhibition extolling its virtues, an exhibition that will coincide with the installation of drinking water stations across the city.

According to a news release, Public Art Chattanooga and the Tennessee Clean Water Network are offering $2,500 honorarium for each of three designs that will raise awareness of "the importance of drinking water."

It's part of a program called Bringing Tap Back, a state-wide initiative that raises awareness of the importance of drinking water by providing free and publicly accessible water bottle refill stations in public spaces.

Three of the best designs will be installed this summer at eight new outdoor water bottle refill stations around the city.

The deadline for submissions is April 30.

According to the selection criteria, judges will base their decision on attention to architectural, historical, geographical and cultural context, originality and the artist's track record.
