NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency today gave the official go ahead for Life Care Centers of America to replace its existing nursing home in East Ridge with a $24.8 million facility.

Members approved the certificate of need on an 8-3 vote. That allows the company, which does business as Life Care Center of East Ridge, to proceed with construct a 108-bed facility. It will replace its existing 130-bed facility, located at 1500 Fincher Ave., and will be built on the same property.

Rep. Marc Gravitt, R-East Ridge, a city councilman and vice mayor, testified in favor, saying project would benefit not just East Ridge but Hamilton County.

"I'm excited," Gravitt said following the vote. "The economic revitalization of East Ridge continues."
