A Chattanooga man was arrested in Red Bank Monday on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual battery, and aggravated domestic assault.
According to an affidavit, Red Bank police responding to reports of "loud screaming and what sounded like a physical altercation" found Christopher Lane, 20, of 4342 Shawnee Cir., yelling at a "shirtless white female" in a parking lot on Dayton Blvd. When an officer approached, Lane ran to a nearby apartment, yelled that he "had nothing to talk to the officer about," and slammed and locked the door.
Through the door, the officer heard what sounded "like a person slamming a toilet tank cover." Lane later returned to the door and opened it. The officer detained Lane, and noticed a .380 bullet lying on the floor. The woman who had been with Lane in the parking lot then told officers that Lane "was going to kill her."
A sweep of the apartment for weapons found the toilet tank cover slightly ajar, and inside the tank officers found a Highpoint .380 semi-automatic weapon.
Lane was booked into Hamilton County jail Monday, and is being held on bonds for each of the charges, totaling $190,000. Lane also faces charges of theft of property and evading arrest from a separate incident. He is set to appear before Judge Christine Mahn Sell on those charges May 13.
