Dunlap man kidnapped, robbed; suspects in custody

A Dunlap man told Sequatchie County authorities he was kidnapped and robbed by three men early Saturday morning.

Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock said in a news release that his officers at 6:49 a.m. to Woodland Way on Signal Mountain, in Sequatchie County. On arrival they met a man who told them he had been taken at gunpoint from a location inside the city limits of Dunlap. Officers with the Dunlap Police Department, who had also received information of the incident, responded to the scene.

The victim told detectives from both agencies that he had been held at gunpoint, was bound with tape, and placed into the trunk of a vehicle. When they arrived at a location near Woodland Way, the suspects removed him from the trunk, and proceeded to assault him, and take money from him. The victim was taken to Erlanger Sequatchie for treatment.

Detective Paul Howard of the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Departmen, and a detective with the Dunlap Police Department went to a location in Dunlap and took three men into custody.

Logan Lepard, 18, of Dunlap; Anthony Michael Kauffman, 19, of Nappanee, Ind., and Hayden Daniel Rutherford, 18, of Dunlap, were all charged with aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. The three also face charges from Dunlap Police in connection with the kidnapping that occurred in the city limits.

All three are being housed in the Sequatchie County Jail, without bond, and have a General Sessions Court date of June 19.
