A 44-year-old Hixson man is accused of repeatedly raping a girl seven years ago and again recently.

Wendell Duncan was arrested and charged with rape and aggravated statutory rape.

The girl's mother contacted Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies on Friday and said Duncan assaulted her daughter while she was away at work.

Duncan turned himself in to authorities and told detectives he "admits to whatever [the girl] accused him of doing." He declined to speak further without an attorney.

Detectives also discovered text messages that Duncan apparently sent to a friend in which he claims he abused the girl. In the messages, someone texting under Duncan's name said, "I'm a child molester. I've abused [girl's name]."

He also expressed remorse for his alleged actions.

He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and is being held on a $450,000 bond.
