Drug busts across Dekalb County net meth bounty

Police caught eight alleged drug offenders across DeKalb County on Thursday in locales ranging from the woods to the car wash.

* They found Mary Elizabeth Pence, 27, of Henagar, walking in the woods behind a house on Wooten Lane after officers had received tips about drug use at the house. They searched Pence's purse and found marijuana, according to a news release.

Police charged Pence with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana.

* Police found Bradley Dan Blackwell, 40, of Fyffe, at his home after receiving a tip to check out the home on County Road 342 in Tenbroeck.

Blackwell admitted that he had recently smoked marijuana, according to police, and a subsequent search uncovered methamphetamine.

Police arrested Blackwell and charged him with unlawful possession of controlled substances and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

* At a carwash in Fyffe, officers reportedly noticed a syringe and beer in plain view inside a vehicle. Drug Task Force agents searched the car and found meth, according to the release.

Police arrested three people: Adam Keith Wooten, 33, of Grant, Amanda Joanna Lawson, 24, of Grant, and Billy Joe Lee, 39, of Albertville. Wooten was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; Lawson was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and giving false identification to officers; and Lee was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a prohibited beverage.

* At another traffic stop, Drug Task Force agents pulled over a car on McGee Street in Powell. Agents at the rear of the vehicle reportedly saw a black bag thrown from the window, which was later found to contain 3.7 grams of meth in five individual bags, some marijuana and some pills. When agents searched the vehicle they found scales, extra baggies and syringes.

Police arrested William Scott Goldin, 56, of Valley Head, Amber Elizabeth Benefield, 29, of Albertville and Nicholas Michael Johnson, 24, of Ider. They arrested all three and charged them with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug parapherna and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police arrested eight suspects in total and transported them to the DeKalb County Detention Center.
