A grand jury Wednesday indicted a Hamilton County school bus driver on charges of statutory rape in an incident involving a student.

The 15-year-old girl told police Alex Rodriguez, 34, drove her to the Super 8 Motel on Lee Highway in March, forced her to perform a sex act and raped her. He then dropped her off to walk over an hour home, police said.

Meanwhile, her parents had reported her missing after she didn't return from a day at Sale Creek Middle/High School.

Rodriguez was initially charged with forcible rape and indicted on a charge of aggravated statutory rape. He was eventually placed on unpaid leave. He is scheduled for arraignment June 5.
